Experienced Oil Change Service for European Luxury Automobiles
Protect your engine and extend the life of your car
Regular oil changes are the most important thing you can do to protect your engine and extend the life of your car. At Oldwick Village Garage, we make oil changes as convenient and cost-effective as possible, so nothing discourages you from getting the work done on schedule. We also have the knowledge and experience to do the job right for top-of-the-line European luxury automobiles. Settling for less than specialized service puts your investment at risk. Not only could your engine suffer, but if you get the wrong grade of motor oil you could lose the protection of your warranty. Our mechanics are certified to work on all makes and models, so we’re ready to help protect your Bmw, Mercedes, Porsche, VW/Audi, Jaguar/Rover and Exotics.
The good news: longer intervals between oil changes
For a long time, American drivers were told to get an oil change every 3,000 miles. But, as engines were designed to be more efficient and motor oil was engineered to last longer and lubricate better. the recommended interval was extended to 7500-10000 miles for most vehicles. For the average commuter who puts 30000 miles on his/her car annually, that means about four oil changes per year.
If you’re new to owning a European luxury car, you’re really going to appreciate the longer interval between oil changes. Most manufacturers, including VAG, Bmw, Mercedes, and Rover recommend 7500-15000 miles. That means about a third the number of oil changes each year.
The bad news: premium-priced specialty motor oil
Maintaining a luxury European automobile isn’t cheap, and the specially engineered synthetic oil they take is one reason. But this liquid gold is essential for maintaining your car for two reasons:
- Longer intervals – As stated above, you’re going to drive your car about three times as many miles before changing the oil. The oil must be able to stand up to this added wear without turning to sludge that can damage your engine. This is also better for the environment because of less waste oil.
- Sensitive emission filters – European cars are engineered to conform to the European Union’s emission standards, and so are their oils. Unfortunately, American oils can ruin a European car’s sensitive emission filtration system.
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) sets standards for motor oil, and your car’s warranty depends on using an oil that meets these stringent specifications. If you use a cheaper substitute, and your engine is damaged as a result, your warranty will not cover the damage.
Bring your car to a garage that always has your specialty oil in stock
Unfortunately, not every mechanic’s shop is going to have the type of oil your car requires. Garages that don’t focus on European cars rarely stock motor oil that meets the ACEA’s stringent standards. If you’ve taken the time to bring your car in, it’s frustrating to find you can’t get the work done as planned. You might even be tempted to use an oil the mechanic promises is “just as good.” Don’t risk it! The far better choice is to bring your car to Oldwick Village Garage, where we specialize on European luxury vehicles, and we always have the right oil for the job.
